A stunning, new, state-of-the-art entertainment venue, with the kind of world-class acoustics that great music deserves.
The 3 Arena is located near the docklands in Dublin City Centre. It is a 14,000 seat amphitheatre. It was built on the site of the old Point Theatre, which was a smaller music venue, however the 3 Arena has retained some of the outer façade. The point operated from 1988-2007 and the 3 Arena was opened in 2008, when it was called the O2 Arena, so this concert venue has a huge amount of history and has been home to some of the major performers in the past 30 years. In September 2014, it was renamed The 3 Arena.
An interesting fact is that U2 were the first people to perform here and Bono & Edge performed Van Diemen’s Land & Desire to a private audience. The O2 Dublin has had many of the most recent superstars perform here from Beyoncé to Lady Gaga and even the stars of Glee performed here in 2011.
